HSI Introduces a Truly Universal Reed Switch

HSI introduces the HSR-637W, which the company calls a truly universal Form C reed switch. According to HSI, the switch has been perfected to handle high power up to 100 watts, and low power down to 30 mW, all while maintaining low and stable contact resistance.

“We engineered this switch because we realize there are customers designing circuits that normally run at low levels, but that sometimes experience a surge that would overload a standard switch,” explains Zack McGill, director of engineering for HSI. “They may be running long lines that sometimes experience power surges, or they may have a circuit that normally runs at low levels but occasionally needs to switch real loads like solenoids or lights or motor actuation. Either way, this switch gives them the versatility to design in one switch that will handle both types of loads seamlessly.”

The HSR-637W’s unique load-handling capabilities make it a perfect fit for both fluid controls processing and the reed relay industry, serving applications such as broadcasting and video equipment, security, mobile phone base stations, instrumentation, process control, automatic test and measurement equipment, as well as industrial applications.
